Harmony is achievable for animals and people
"Rei" means "spirit" or "universal life" and "Ki" means "energy". So, Reiki ("Ray-key") means "spirit energy" or "universal life energy". Life energy flows through everyone and everything. The system of Reiki supports this life energy by facilitating self-healing, reducing stress, and promoting balance.
People and animals, as well as nature in general, have the capacity for self-healing. However, living in stressful situations tends to block this self-healing which can lead to illness or dis-ease. Reiki helps to facilitate and open up the self-healing capability so that people and animals can move toward health and balance once again. It treats the whole being at all levels: physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual.
Reiki provides many of the same benefits as massage for both people and animals but is offered hands off and can be offered remotely. For people, this can be more acceptable and relaxing because they stay clothed and comfortable. For animals, they have the choice to accept as much or as little as they need and whether they want physical touch or not.
Reiki is not, nor intended to be, a substitute for traditional doctor or veterinary care. It is a complementary form of health care. The client should regularly consult a doctor or veterinarian in matters related to his or her health or his or her animal's health and especially in regards to any symptoms which may require diagnosis or medical attention.
